Why use Intermodal Shipping

Intermodal shipping is a great way to cut costs and increase supply chain efficiency.  Intermodal shipments involve all modes of transportation, but primarily relies on rail shipments.  If you have a long haul and a little extra time this method could potentially save you a lot of money.  All intermodal shipments are carried via freight containers.  It is important that they are loaded properly and the weight is evenly distributed.  Because the loading of the freight is only done once it reduces the direct handling of the shipment which potentially reduces damage along the way as well.

How is Intermodal Shipping priced?

Since intermodal shipping involves all aspects and modes of transportation it is important to work with a specialist that is familiar with these types of shipments.  The most significant factor in determining the price of the shipments is the distance from point A to point B, but also the distance from rail station to the pick up point and destination.
